PHILOSOPHY
What will you discover?
Human history is the global story of self-reliant, brave and driven adventurers always heading towards the horizon. They venture into wild, untamed lands attempting to quench their curiosity and challenge the conventional wisdom of their day.
These great explorers scaled majestic heights, traversed enormous expanses of earth and ocean, plumbed the extraordinary depths of both our planet and our universe all in the name of human achievement.
The common thread in all of these journeys is the innate passion to discover. Adventure and wilderness exploration resonate within each of us; a human trait as latent as any other characteristic in our DNA.
With all the benefits of living in the “Information Age”, there remain those things we must discover for ourselves. For these intangibles, the questions you ask and the answers you arrive at must be your own. Not for purchase, they can only be earned. Fortunately, some of your deepest beliefs surface while confronting your most challenging personal adventures.
Now it does not matter that others have explored before you. Who cares? The key to life is personal discovery. Remember,
If it’s new to you it is an adventure.
What will you discover?
Adventure and Wilderness exploration are innate to the human fabric, a integral part of our very souls.
That your heart beats to a “distant drummer”, to quote Thoreau,
or London’s “call of the wild” resonates within each of us was known to saints, scientists and philosophers since the very beginning of the human journey.
In order to be fully human, congruent with your self,
your community, your planet, there comes a time when the need to explore your own way, to beat your own path into the wilderness, to discover your own adventure potential, to witness nature’s grandeur and robustness firsthand and chin first, is as important as any other human need.
Thankfully, this spirit to explore sits within each of us. It stirs us from the same part of our hearts that holds our passions, our innate intelligences, our drive to thrive, it’s the home of our true potential. Once you tap this reservoir, it throws a spark, and there is no turning back. It forces you to brave the elements and situations at hand no matter the temperature or the terrain. Remember, it always takes a little vulnerability to enhance one’s durability.
As the host of Wonder. Explore. Believe. It’s my job to continually call our guests back outside where they belong, to de-mystify the gear and knowledge and skill sets necessary for a safe, challenging and exhilarating exploration. Chasing the horizon on my own adventures vicariously involves the viewers and listeners in our virtual explorations. It won’t be long at all before they’re out the door charting their own course.
And I dig that. Because in the end it’s about the only exploration that matters…..yours!
